作为一名早期乡村和福音音乐歌手，Jimmie Davis同时还是一位政界的高官，并且有趣的是他在音乐方面的最大成就也就出现在他两次政治生涯的巅峰时期。  1899年9月11号（另说1902年），Jimmie Davis出生于洛杉矶的比奇斯普林斯，原名是James Houston Davis。尽管出身于贫穷佃农家庭，Jimmie Davis凭借自己的努力和聪明才智获得了硕士学位，继而获得了路易斯安那州立大学的博士学位并开始在一个小学院教授历史。1928年，他与维克多签约并 开始录制音乐，他早期的音乐基本都继承了著名“乡村音乐之父”Jimmie Rodgers的风格。之后的5年中，他录制了大量的音乐，但是可能是由于经济大萧条的影响，这些歌曲的销量一直不好。直到1934年，他转向德卡，发行 了他第一支主畅销的打单曲“Nobody’s Darlin’ But Mine”，以及另一支出自Floyd Tillman的单曲“It Makes No Difference Now”。在1940年2月4日，他录制了著名的“You Are Mine Sunshine”，该曲可以说是Jimmie Davis最经典的作品，它简单优美的旋律、淳朴的伴奏都可以说是这一类早期乡村音乐的代表。该曲在发行后的一个月内在美国的销量超过了100万，在英国 发行后，当时的国王乔治六世说这首歌是他的最爱，至今，作为一首经典的歌曲，它仍然还在被无数人传唱，其中包括Mitch Miller，Bob Dylan，The Beatles，Tina Turner .... http://www.douban.com/group/topic/22550562/
